Correspondent of UNIAN in Donetsk region reports pressure and censorship by agency administration
A journalist from Donetsk, UNIAN correspondent from Donetska oblast, Olena Kolhusheva, reports censorship and pressure of the agency administration. She published an open letter to colleagues, “Novosti Donbassa” report.
"...I am threatened with being fired for saying the truth. They want to deprive me of the job when I am forced, due to danger to my life and to the members of my family, to stay away from home for already 7 months. I work in UNIAN since 2000, and I never thought that, as I give myself to the work, I will face humiliation, cynical and mean pressure to force me quit the job”, the journalist wrote, noting that she does not know why exactly she fell out of favor. Yet, she knows which material triggered it. It was a publication about how terrorists in Donetsk use Oshchadbank, large state-owned bank, to transfer large amounts of money to Russia. Oshchadbank denies it (and this fact was also published by UNIAN), yet the journalist insists that these are the facts.
Help us be even more cool!
