Freelance correspondent of newspaper “Sumshchyna” Serhiy Suprun was denied accreditation to events with the Minister of Internal Affairs ARsen Avakov. This was reported to IMI representative in Sumska oblast by the chief editor of the newspaper Serhiy Mosha.
According to the chief editor, the application for accreditation was sent in advance, and the press service did not have any issues with it. But in the evening before the visit (which took place on October 3) the journalist received a call from the Chief Administration of National Police and recommended not to visit the event. In the day of the event, Serhiy Suprun was not in the list of accredited journalists
Serhiy Suprun is not only a journalist of the local newspaper, but is also the leader of the local "Right Sector" organization. He thinks this was the reason why he was denied access to the event.
IMI media lawyer Maksym Ratushnyi said that absence of accreditation cannot be the reason for denying access to open events of authorities.
