Chornomorska journalists terminate their strike
"You could go on strike and demand repayment of debts. However, this would require a total immersion into a protracted legal process, appeals to the court, to supervision bodies over the observance of laws, not to mention the financial cost and health. Moral support that we received from our colleagues from Kyiv and Crimean media really helped us, but it is not enough to continue the struggle "- reads the press release of the TV-channel staff, posted by Andronaki on Facebook.
They noted that they "managed to achieve “the maximum of possible": the large number of employees, who retired in previous years, were paid the debt. Over the past three weeks they paid the debt for October and a part of November 2012. The prosecutor’s office and the Interior Ministry continue to deal with financial fraud in Chornomorska”.
"And of course, we can talk about the moral victory over holders – oligarchs, who were frightened, showed vindictiveness, greed, pettiness and anger against those who dared to assert their rights. We showed our colleagues that they can and should defend their rights and honor "- stressed the press release.
"During the last two years, the television lost its professionals, attention and respect of viewers. We do not see any future of the Chornomorska Broadcasting Company under the current leadership” – said the collective in their press release.
As IMI reported earlier, on February 7, Chornomorska TV-Radio Company employees went on strike due to huge debts on their salaries.
