Chernihiv producer crowdfunding for EWS for her husband's border patrol unit

Suspilne Chernihiv producer Olha Konopatska-Plekhova is raising 1 million 300 thousand hryvnias for the Chernihiv Border Detachment No. 105, where her husband currently serves.

She shared the information with Pavlo Pushchenko, the Institute of Mass Information coordinator in Chernihiv oblast.

“One might say that Chernihiv Border Detachment No. 105 is my unit. My husband, who joined the army in March 2022, serves in it, and he is fighting near Kupyansk now. When I learned that border guards on our northern border needed electronic warfare equipment, I could not stay away. Even though I understand that raising one million three hundred thousand hryvnias, and doing so quickly, is very difficult now,” she said.

Halyna Shekhovtsova, a spokeswoman for the Chernihiv Border Detachment, says that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have the situation on the northern border under the control, but the enemy's troops remain along the border.

According to her, the Russian side is shelling the area daily with various types of weapons. In the two weeks of 2025, the Russian army attacked border guards in Chernihiv oblast more than 170 times; of all these attacks, almost 90 were carried out with drones.

As of now, Olha Konopatska-Plekhova has only raised 130 thousand hryvnias.

“I'm grateful to everyone who joins the campaign. 15 thousand hryvnias were donated by the relatives of the deceased soldiers from the CSO One Chernihiv Family. I also received a donation of 4800 hryvnias – I don’t know from whom, the person did not sign their name. One elderly person waited for me next to my house for two days to hand over a thousand hryvnias. There is a person who throws 100 hryvnias to the fundraiser every day," the media professional said.

She added that if 13,000 people donated 100 hryvnias each, which is “quite realistic,” the fundraiser would reach its goal quickly “and would not be difficult for anyone who joined.”

The electronic warfare (EW) systems that the Chernihiv producer is crowdfunding for are much needed on the northern border to protect civilians and soldiers from enemy drone attacks.
