Chepak deceived journalists: she hampered to ask Yanukovych about collapse of democracy in Ukraine

25.02.2013, 10:04
A conflict between journalists from Ukraine and President’s Press Secretary Darka Chepak took place in Brussels on February 25, 2013, at the press conference of President Viktor Yanukovych and EU leaders, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

Ukrainian journalists had a right to ask only one question.

Before the press conference, in presence of journalists, Chepak promised to give the word to Korrespondent journalist Iryna Solomko, who arrived in Brussels not in the presidential pool.

However, at the very press conference, the microphone was handed to Darka Olifer, the ICTV journalist who arrived in the Yanukovych’s pool.

The President’s press secretary personally showed who should be given the microphone.

Therefore, Yanukovych did not hear any questions about the collapse of democracy in Ukraine. The question from Darka Olifer was about the visa regime, and was addressed to European Union officials, who responded with bureaucratic phrases.

In her Facebook, Iryna Solomko wrote that despite the previous agreement, she could not ask Yanukovych about the problems with the development of democracy in the country.
