Chefs of Chernivetska oblast media outlets are summoned to police for "illegal activities"

On July 21, the Department of Combating Economic Crimes of the Branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Chernivetska oblast summoned the editor of the informational portal BukInfo Serhiy Zaraysky because of the complaint submitted by the representative of the local community association «Maidan» and head of the Public Council under the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Chernivetska oblast Volodymyr Vakariuk accusing Zaraysky’s media outlet of unlawful activities.  

Earlier this month, Vakariuk filed lawsuits against several local news media outlets and demanded a compensation of one million hryvnias. Later he dropped the money demand.

The local journalist community believes this to be an attempt of personal retaliation.
