CEC revoked registration of Shariy, Kluyev as candidates for parliament election

04.07.2019, 12:50
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has revoked the registration of video blogger Anatoliy Shariy and former head of Presidential administration at the time of Viktor Yanukovych Andriy Klyuyev as candidates running for parliament election, as to the CEC’s website. The CEC received a letter from the Security Service of Ukraine saying that Anatoliy Shariy had crossed the border of Ukraine on January 24, 2012 via the checkpoint Zernove (Sumy region) by train Kovel-Moscow and afterwards he has never returned to Ukraine. The SSU informed that the courts and the law enforcement bodies have been receing reports from Interpol on the place of residence of the blogger in the Nethrlands or Lithuania. On July 22 2013, the Dutch Ministry of justice had informed the General Prosecutor’s Office in Ukraine that Shariy was granted the status of refugee, so he could not be extradited to Ukraine. Also the law enforcement agencies informed the CEC that Andriy Klyuev has not been residing in Ukraine for last 5 years. As to the SSU, Klyuev has not been entering Ukraine since 2014. IMI informed yesterday, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy asked the Prosecutor general’s office, the Security service of Ukraine and the State border guard service to provide an information on the  place of residence during last five years of Anatoliy Shariy, Andriy Klyuyev and Renata Kuzmin, who have been registered as candidates or the early parliamentary election. On July 2, the Central election commission registered the blogger Anatoliy Sharia and the former head of the Presidential administration of Viktor Yanukovych Andriy Klyuyev as candidates for early elections to the Verkhovna Rada. On June 24, the CEC refused to register Anatoly Shariya and Andrii Klyuyev. The reason for the refusal was failure to comply with the requirements of the Constitution and the law on residence in Ukraine during the last five years. On July 2, in Kyiv on the Independence Square (Maydan), a hundreds of persons gathered against the decision of the CEC to register candidates Andriy Klyuyev and Anatoly Shariy.
