Austrian journalist filed a claim against ban to entry to Ukraine

27.03.2019, 12:30
Austrian journalist Christian Wehrschuetz banned to entry Ukraine filed claim for invalidation of ban to entry to Ukraine issued by the Secret Service of Ukraine, as to Euvropeyska Pravda. Wehrschuetz’ lawyers entered a plea to District administrative court, they claimed the SSU decision was “due to dissatisfaction the Ukrainian authorities have with his reports”. “Formally, the SSU imputed the journalists with visiting of occupied territories, notwithstanding he possessed direct permits issued by SSU to work at non-controlled by Ukraine territories. In a public trial we will prove that Christian Wehrschuetz did not broke any Ukraine law and that he had been aggrieved because of his journalistic activity”, they said. IMI informed on March 9 the Security Service of Ukraine banned Christian Wehrschuetz,ORF’s Kyiv bureau chief, from entering to Ukraine for a period of one year and it was needed for the journalist’s own safety, the service said.
