At polling stations of Zhytomyr, some observer journalists registered with suspicions IDs

16.11.2015, 23:31

On November 15 at the polling stations of Zhytomyr many journalists registered from unknown newspapers and with suspicious IDs. The head of Zhytomyr city election commission Tamara Yaremchuk reported this to Zhytomyr.info.

Many of the newspapers the journalists claimed they represent are not really being published now – such as "Patriot Plius", "Hromada Polissya“, "Vashi Interesy". The IDs also look like an office-printed paper, she said, with seals of some private enterprises. Yaremchuk says they intend to call the police for it to verify these IDs. OPORA reports about similar incidents, in particular at polling station No.181347 , journalists from the media outlets “Patriot”, “Hromada Polissia” were registered, and they had suspicious-looking IDs. On the IDs of "Hromada Polissia" media outlet, the seal did not indicate the same name of newspaper as the registration form. The commission members called police to identify the people with suspicions IDs, as they refused to show their passports. The editor of the newspaper "Patriot", though, claims that the commission impedes the activities of the journalists.
