April 15th deadline for applications to mini-grant competition for interregional journalistic investigations

The NGO “Regional Press Development Institute” has announced a mini-grants contest of interregional journalistic investigations among the participants of the Ressources center (jcenter.com.ua). The maximum amount of grant to conduct the interregional investigation is 30 thousands (around $1 104), this sum could be modified depending on number of journalists involved in an investigation). The floor amount of journalists to fulfil an investigation is two journalists from different towns, districts or regions. In order to take part in the competition it is indispensable: -to register oneself at Resource center for investigative journalists (solely for those journalists who are already practicing journalistic investigation); -to get agreement with one’s colleagues on cooperation and to find topic for an interregional journalistic investigation. You could finf colleagues at the Resource center; -to fill an application form and to describe in details the topic of scheduled investigation, its preconceived idea, workplan and list of sources of information; In the framework of the grants competition of interregional journalistic investigations, the IRPD team provides with following assistance: -legal advice (advice and pre-publication expert evaluation); -editional one (revising of text ahead of publication, advice as to story-telling of journalistic investigation); -expert evaluation (assistance in searching of experts within preparing of the investigation); -difussing and making public of journalistic investigation of the winners (publication at public platform of the RPDI, Resource center and in other media). Application form to take part in mini-grant competitition is available here. The goals of the competition are: -to support independent journalists who are going to revealsome corruption schemes, politicians and functionaries who abuse their position; -to favour alliance of investigative journalists from various regions of Ukraine; -to strengthen impartiality and independecy of journalistic activity as to anticorruption investigations; -to draw attention of society to corruption in government bodies of all regions of Ukraine and at all levels. Deadline: The competition presumes 5 grants being accorded for journalistic interregional investigations in various formats: text, video, audio, infographics. Selection is made on a competitive basis. The organizational committee reservds the right to renounce to accord the grant without detailed explanation of such reasons. Applications filed from the journalists who have not been registered at Resource center won’t be considered. ATTENTION! Before publication all journalistic investigations imperatively have to pass legal evaluation by experts. Applications are admitted until April 15th, 2019.The results of the competition are to announced until May 1st, 2019. The journalistic investigations are to be made public until December 31st, 2019. Serhiy Kaplin told it to Hromadske on March 19th. He explained his absence in the air program of candidates for the presidency saying he had a meeting and was unable to take part in the program. He would warned the TV channel of it in advance, as Kaplin said. To remind, on March 18th, the NPTU aired the television debates “Feedback”, and invited Oleksander Moroz, Inna Bogoslovska and Serhiy Kaplin. But Kaplin rejected the invitation to ‘s take part in the program. So they put a model form in studio with Kaplin’s name on it.
