Amnesty International called the Zhytomyr blogger "prisoner of conscience"

International advocacy organization Amnesty International calls the Zhytomyr blogger Vasyl Muravytskyi, who is accused of high treason, and appeals to free him immediately. This was in the release of organization, published on December, Radio Liberty reports. “He is persecuted just for peaceful practice of his right to express his views related to his professional activities, and he must be released immediately without any conditions”, the statement of the organization reads. As IMI reported before, on August 1, 2017, SBU conducted in Zhytomyr investigative actions on the blogger Vasyl Muravytskyi, former local journalist who was publishing anti-Ukrzainian materials and commented the events in Ukraine for pro-Russian mass media. Later, SBU officers detained Vasyl Muravytskyi. Journalist from Zhytomyr was creating skewed publications, working for Russian propaganda agencies, since 2014. On August 2, Koroliovskyi district court of zhytomyr resolved to hold Muravytskyi arrested  for two months. On September 25, SBU investigators filed the case to the court. The blogger is accused of crimes described in part 1 of article 111 (“High treason”), part 2 of article 110 (“Violation against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”), part 2 of article 161 (“Violation of equal rights of citizens based on their race or ethnicity”) and part 1 of article 258-3 (“Participation in activities of terrorist organization”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
