All Ukraine television channels unplugged in Sumy region

22.03.2019, 17:48
On March 21st, in Sumy region Ukraine television broadcasting was suspended, as MPs Oleh Medunytsya and Viktoria Syumar said at the parliamentary sitting today, as to Ukrinform. Oleh Medunytsya from parliamentary faction”Popular front” told that in his circumpsricption in Sumy region the Ukrainian television broadcasting has been ceased. In her turn, Viktoria Syumar, head of the Committee on freedom of speech and information policy, told that it had been known for a long time ago that the company provider of digital television broadcasting “Zeonbud” had arrears to the corporate group BRT (Broadcasting, radio ccommunications and television concern). At the same time, Syumar stressed out that this issue could be seen as interference to election. “This was absolutely surprising as this incident happened yesterday, although we had warned about it, as at present the company “Zeonbud” which is monopoly artificially created in Ukraine as provider of digital broadcasting, and he had arrears to corporate group BRT. But now we face social issue and very important political one as well. The issue was known for a long time ago, about the crisis of arrears in payement, but a week before election they cut off in several regions all Ukraine television channels and especially at border with Russia, where they got Russian analogue television. This is, obviously, very important problem. I guess it could be considered as interference to election”, Syumar told. Syumar called the government to summon all structures and to find solution to this issue, taking into account there had been important arrears of broadcaster which claims the government failed to provide him with sufficient funds. The Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman replied the government would make efforts to find solution. IMI informed today, that the media group “1+1” claimed its broadcasting was suspended in Sumy and Poltava regions.
