Activist and journalist from Cherkasy Vasyl Serhienko was tortured and murdered by bandits from Kyiv, says police
Journalist, Maidan civil activist and public figure, 58-year-old Vasyl Serhiyenko from Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi (Cherkaska oblast) was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by bandits from Kyiv. The police operatives found the tracks of the murderers by a piece of a receipt from a supermarket in Kyiv. This was the announcement issued on October 15 by the head of MIA of Ukraine Administration in Cherkaska oblast Vladyslav Pustovar during the session of the Public Council. The murder was committed on April 4, 2014, by two groups of criminals – one kidnapped the activist outside his home, and the other tortured, murdered and buried him. After the murder, the criminals returned to Kyiv. The bandits were detained in the process of committing another crime. As a journalist, Serhienko was known by a series of articles uncovering the "secret sides of the business" of Hennadiy Bobov, a friend of Serhiy Tulub from the Party of Regions. Bobov himself addressed the law enforcers with a demand to secure impartial investigation of the crime. On July 11, one of the criminals was detained in Kyiv on suspicion of murder of Serhienko.
