The National council for television and radio broadcasting has 33 lawsuits filed due to violation of the current legislation by the "112 Ukraine" TV channel and imposed 18 penalties on the NewsOne TV channel. This was stated by the deputy chairman of the National council Ulyana Feschuk in the parliament on July 11,as Ukrinform reported. "Today, as to the channel “112 Ukraine”, we have 33 lawsuits on the violation of the legislation in force, 18 penalty sanctions have been imposed to NewsOne TV channel, which are currently being appealed in the court," as Feshchuk said. At the same time, she insisted there was indispensable to extend the powers of the regulator, as today the National Council is unable to provide any effective influence, but can only apply to the court asking to cancel the license of broadcasters in case of violation of the law, in particular in the field of national security. IMI reported, on October 5, 2018, the MP from the Opposition Bloc Taras Kozak became the owner of the corporate rights of the NewsOne TV channel. On December 14, 2018, the "112 Ukraine" TV channel informed that Taras Kozak, a MP from the opposition party "Opposition bloc", became the new owner of the channel. On June 14, it became known that ZIK TV channel was bought by an ally of Viktor Medvedchuk Taras Kozak, who also owns NewsOne TV channels and 112 Ukraine. Based on his media assets, he is going to create a new media holding "News". Immediately after the announcement of the sale of ZIK, a number of top managers and journalists resigned. .On July 9, the National council for television and radio broadcasting decided to appeal to the Verkhovna Rada with proposals to amend the Law "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" in order to provide to the National council the authority to suspend and cancel licenses in certain cases in order to prevent anti-Ukrainian activities. July 9, the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting decided to conduct an unscheduled verification of NewsOne TV channel (company "Novyny 24 hodyny") due to announcement the NewsOne made of scheduled  TV link-up  with Russian television channel "Russia 1".
