In Russia journalist sued by Mayor of Yakutsk for blackmail

The investigative committee instituted criminal proceedings over the charge of blackmail offense against Yakutsk journalist Viktoria Gabysheva. She had been charged of blackmailing by the Mayor of Yakuts, as to Medusa. The case is probed since end of April, as to the investigation officers of the Investigative committee of the Yakutsk republic. Gabysheva told she had been informed of this proceeding only after the newspapers came out with this news. Sardana Avkentyeva, Mayor of Yakuts lodged a complaint to the police by the end of March. Avksentyeva told the journalist demanded the mayor’s office to withdraw another claim against a developer company, if not she would divulagate some negative information against the mayor. Gabysheva replied that, in fact, she had been spoken about a project of home purchase for one multi-child family. But she denied the fact of blackmailing.
