UPY 2019 attracted more photographers than ever before, over 10% more than last year’s record numbers, and entries came in from 65 different countries, meaning competition was fiercer than ever”, Alex Mustard, chair of jury told. The winner is Richard Barnden, from UK with a image “Gauntlet”. The photo of Igor Bogachenko “Mother” was among the winners too. “My dream became true. For a long time I wished to take picture of a mantis with eggs. While observing the attitude of this cancriform during a long time, I was lucky to see the moment to come when a mantis female got curious with its reflection at the lens glass and got out of its cover”, Bogachenko told.
