25% of Chernihiv region rayons were not receiving Ukrainian TV broadcasts - OSA head

12.04.2016, 12:44

Five rayons on the periphery of Chernihivska oblast have not been receiving Ukrainian TV broadcasts at all before autumn of 2015. The head of Chernihivska Oblast State Administration Valeriy Kulich reported this in his summary report for the first year of work to the community, “Vysokyi Val” reports.

According to his report, 25% of the oblast territory did not have a normal Ukrainian TV signal broadcast. Chernihivska oblast has 400 kilometers of border with other countries, and in the rayon centers bordering other countries, the residents were watching Belorussian and Russian channels. To solve this problem, the broadcasting equipment had to be upgraded, and this problem was brought to the national level, to the Cabinet of Ministers. The broadcasting equipment in the urban-type village Kholmy was upgraded, and now Ukrainian broadcast signal is good in all rayons on the border, Kulich reported. One more upgrade is scheduled in the first half of 2016 for increasing the number of channels broadcasted in these areas.
