"112 Ukraina" expresses concern about the situation around the tender conducted by the National Council

13.10.2017, 12:47
TV channel “112 Ukraina” expresses its concern about the situation about the tender for vacant place in the national digital multiplex МХ-5 conducted by the National Council of Ukraine for TV and radio broadcasting. The channel appeals to the Ukrainian authorities and international organizations and agencies “to pay attention to possible abuse of power by the regulator, and not to allow to falsify the results of the contest”. This was stated in the letter of the channel as of October 12 to the President of Ukraine, the Parliament, coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine, EU office in Ukraine, Embassy of the USA in Ukraine and Amnesty International in Ukraine. As the channel reported, with reference to MP Serhiy Leshchenko and their own sources, in a month and a half before the tender is over, the winner is known already. The winner will be a state-owned enterprise, the channel claims. Also the channel's administrators think that the tender in question “became just one more episode of the regulator's abuses against the independent and objective broadcaster”. The channel has a long history with the regulator, and many times complained about discriminatory approach "which constitutes a crack-down on freedom of press".
