"112 Ukraina" channel operator attacked with tear gas during confrontations near Verkhovna Rada
On October 14, in Kyiv when covering the confrontations near the Verkhovna Rada, the camera operator of the TV channel "112 Ukraina" Oleh Kim was attacked with tear gas. This was reported during a live strand-up by the channel’s correspondent Yehven Kurulenko.
Aggressive young men that were provoking police officers in the cordon around the Verkhovna Rada directed a jet of tear gas into the operator’s eyes.
The journalist explained that together with the operator he tried to interview the protesters to find out the reasons and motives of their behavior but one of the protesters directed the tear gas at the camera lens and some of the gas went into the operator’s face.
Oleh Kim was rushed to hospital.
For the context, on October 14 a group of unidentified men tried to enter the building of the Verkhovna Rada and were throwing smoke grenades and smoke-puff charges.
