"1+1" will sue State Film Agency for banning series "The Kitchen"

01.03.2016, 21:29

The TV channel “1+1” accuses the head of Derzhkino (Ukrainian State Film Agency) Pylyp Illyenko of using double standards, and promises to go to court to defend the channel's right to show the Russian TV series “The Kitchen”, “Detector media” reports referring to TSN.

As the TV channel claims, the Film Agency cancelled its permit for showing all seasons of the Russian comedy series “The Kitchen” because in one of the series of season five, a husband of singer Valeria appears, Iosif Prigozhin, who is on the red list of people that threaten Ukrainian national security. The channel’s director claims that the series, in which the man appears, was not even purchased by the channel. The channel "1+1" also accuses the governmental regulator of unfair omission of some Russian films that could otherwise be considered containing propaganda elements.
