"1+1" say that they were disconnected in Druzhkivka because of story about local mayor

On January 25, the TV channel “1+1” disappeared from the local cable network in the city of Druzhkivka, Donetska oblast, before airing of the evening news where the story about the city mayor Valeriy Hnatenko was to be broadcast.

TSN story about him covered how he participated in pro-Russian meetings and voted for raising the Russian flag over the governmental building.

As the correspondent of TSN Halyna Serheyeva says, people related to disconnection of the channel at the time of the scandalous news airing said it was commanded by the mayor who is afraid to lose his position.

The mayor himself says that he cooperated with separatists under pressure and threats, and also because he "could  not leave people alone in this dire situation".
