List of injured journalists. February 18-21.

On February 18, in Kyiv the confrontations between protest rally participants and police officers flared up again, and police officers and Berkut fighters attacked both protesters and journalists. Here is the list of journalists injured today.

1.             On Shovkovychna Street, the news photographer of the Reuters Agency Glib Garanych was injured. A flash bang grenade hit him in the chest and tore his clothes.

2.            On Lypska Street, near the central office of the Party of Regions the security attacked Maksym Trebukhov, a news photographer. There were six of them and they were punching him in the face and in the head. The news photographer sustained a broken nose.

3.            On Lypska Street, unidentified young athletic-looking thugs  attacked the filming crew of Channel 5 journalist Yevhenia Taganovych and operator Leonid Taranenko. The thugs broke the video camera. The operator sustained a hand injury and probably a broken finger.

4.            On Lavrska Street, police officers attacked Yevhen Kotenko, a news photographer of the radio station "Holos Stolytsi". When they saw his with his camera in his hands, they attacked him, put armlocks on him, took away his camera and ID, and threatened his life. They checked his camera and found no photos on it yet. After that they let him go.

5.            Near the governmental quarter, unidentified men attacked Oleksander Kozachenko, a UNN photographer, and smashed his camera. This happened when he together with Maksym Trebukhov, both wearing luminescent PRESS vests, were filming the fire in the office of the Party of Regions and how firefighters were extinguishing it.

6.            In Kriposny Lane, Berkut fighters attacked the filming crew of of Channel 5' journalist Azad Safarov. They broke his equipment and microphone. He sustained bruising on his head and body. He cannot move one of his hands.

7.            In Kriposny Lane, Berkut fighters attacked the filming crew of of Channel 5' operator Sergiy Klymenko. They sprayed tear gas in his faces and hit him.

8.            Near  the Officers' Club, unidentified men attacked the journalist of Hromadsky.TV Anatoliy Morozov. He sustained a broken jaw. During the attack he was streaming for Hromadsky.TV, and had a journalist ID and a luminescent PRESS vest.

9.            Near the office of the Party of Regions on Lypska Street the building security attacked Andriy Gudzenko, a news photographer of the media outlet PHL. They also smashed his camera and lens and injured his arm and leg.

10.          Near Mariyinsky Park, hired thugs attacked the TSN news program journalist of the 1+1 TV channel Alla Khotsianivska. The journalist was working together with the operator Artem Bagrov. Hired thugs demanded to give them the camera. When the filming crew refused to do so, the thugs pulled the journalist to a fence, punched in the back, and left.

11.           Near Mariyinsky Park, hired thugs attacked Artem Bagrov, the TSN news program operator of the 1+1 TV channel. The operator was working together with the journalist Alla Khotsianivska. Hired thugs demanded to give them the camera. The operator was surrounded by several hired thugs with truncheons, snatched the camera from his hands, and started to hit him. The operator sustained numerous contusions, and his camera was smashed to pieces.

12.          The freelance news photographer Olena Maksymenko was injured in the leg by grenade chips. This happened on Shovkovychna Street around 11 a.m., and she was making photos of the confrontations and a flash bang grenade went off near her feet.

13.          Berkut took away the thumb drive with the raw footage from the photographer Ivan Lyubysh-Kirdey. He is a camera operator for the «1+1» TV channel and freelance photographer for the newspaper «Den».

14.          On Instytutska Street, Berkut fighters beat up the editor of the section "Economy" of the online media outlet INSIDER Sergiy Holovniov. Berkut fighters were hitting him on the head with truncheons and punching him. They kicked his camera out of his hands and smashed it.

15.          The "Glavkom" correspondent Oleksiy Byk was hit by a rubber bullet in the forehead.

16.          On Instytutska Street, unidentified police officers attacked Yarmea Horodchuk, the editor of the section of politics of the newspaper «Dilova Stolytsia». He sustained a head wound and a sever contusion of his left arm.

17.          During the crackdown on Instytutska Street, Berkut  fighters attacked Kyrylo Chebotin, a news photographer of the newspaper "Kommersant", and smashed his photocamera.

18.          Berkut fighters attacked Volodymyr Borodin, a news photographer of the newspaper "Vesti", and took away his camera, documents and smartphone. He was wearing a helmet with PRESS written on it, a large red badge saying PRESS on his neck and a journalist ID.

19.          A Berkut fighter punched Maksym Kudymets, a news photographer of the online media outlet INSIDER, several times and forced him to delete the photos. The journalist was recording how ammo was being distributed. 

20. The Ukraina TV channel’s camera operator Igor Lypynsky was injured by a rubber bullet. 21. Berkut fighters beat the journalist of "Chernihiv-info" Marianna Hardy, tore away her helmet with the inscription PRESS and started to punch her in the head. 22. Berkut fighters beat the journalist of the newspaper "Uyezdnye Novosti" Igor Volosiankin, he was was wearing a PRESS helmet.

23. The journalist Oleksander Ratushniak sustained a penetrating wound in the leg. We was wearing a luminescent PRESS vest.

24. Mykyta Didenko, a freelance streamer for Hromadske.TV, was injured by an explosion of a flash bang grenade.

25. The journalist of the TV channel Business Oleksiy Kondakov was injured by an explosion of a flash bang grenade, which went off under his feet.

26. On the eve of February 19, hired thugs beat Oleksander Mykhelson, a journalist of ‘Ukrainsky Tyzhden’ and took away his phone. This happened on the crossing of Velyka Zhytomyrska and Volodymyrska Streets, where a group of about one hundred thugs gathered.

27. On the eve of February 19, on the crossing of Velyka Zhytomyrska and Volodymyrska Streets hired thugs pulled a journalist Viacheslav Veremiy out of the taxi and severely beat him. They also shot him in the chest. The JOURNALIST DIED in hospital from blood loss and severity of his wound.

28. On February 18, in Mariyinsky Part hired thugs beat the news photographer of the media outlet From-UA Victor Hatsenko. He sustained a split lip and a neck contusion. They tore away his journalist ID and stole the memory card from his video camera.

29. On February 18, in Kyiv Berkut fighters opened targeted fire at the LB.ua correspondent Oleg Dyshko, who was walking on Khreshchatyk from Yevropeiska Square. The journalist sustained no injuries. According to him, there were no people around him on the street so there was nobody to provoke Berkut.

30. On the eve of February 19, on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv the correspondent of the TV channel ‘Ukraina’ Igor Krymov was injured. A flash bang grenade went off under his feet. Krymov sustained leg wounds.

31. On February 18, in Kyiv on the crossing of Shovkovychna and Instytutska Streets during the confrontations between protesters and Berkut fighters the news photographer of Associated Press Yefrem Lukatsky was injured in the groin by chips of a flash bang grenade.

32. On February 18, the camera operator of Associated Press Yuriy Uvarov was injured by a rubber bullet, which hit him under the eye.

33. On February 18, in Kyiv on Instytutska Streets the journalist and blogger Olena Bilozerska was injured by a rubber bullet and a cobble stone. She sustained a contusion on the arm. Later, when she was filming the Berkut advancement, one of Berkut fighters tore her badge away and hit with a truncheon in the ribs.

34. On February 19, in Odesa unidentified men in masks and helmets kicked the phone from the hands of the journalist of the online media outlet ‘Dumskaia’ Sergiy Dibrov. He was streaming live from that phone.

35. On February 19, in Odesa during the crackdown on the EuroMaidan rally participants near the building of the oblast state administration the camera operator of Novy TV channel Igor Kazanzhi was injured. He was filming how hired thugs were beating the protesters, when one of the thugs hit him on the leg.

36. On February 18, in Kyiv on Instytutska Street Berkut fighters smashed the camera of the Channel 5 operator Ivan Nakonechny. This happened when he was filming them beating one of the protesters during the crackdown. Nakonechny himself sustained no injuries.

37. On February 18, in Kyiv on Instytutska Street Berkut fighters hit the Channel 5 journalist Andriy Kovaliov on the legs with long sticks. Kovaliov informs that he sustained no serious injuries.

38. On February 19, in Kharkiv the operator of the STB TV channel Oleksander Brynza was filming the Berkut fighters, and they surrounded him and beat him. He sustained several contusions, and his camera was smashed.

39. On February 19, in Odesa the operator of the Inter TV channel Igor Mekhonoshyn, who was covering the EuroMaidan support rally near the oblast state administration, got injured. Unidentified athletic-looking thugs in helmets and armbands saying "Antimaidan” smashed his camera and injured his hand.

40. On February 19, in Kharkiv during the hired thugs’ crackdown on rally participants that were blocking the transport coming to the territory of the Academy of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the thugs also attacked the correspondent of "Nadzvychaini Novyny" (his name is now being confirmed) — they hit him on the hand with a bat and damaged his camera.

41. On February 19, in Kharkiv during the hired thugs’ crackdown on rally participants that were blocking the transport coming to the territory of the Academy of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the thugs smashed the video camera of the filming crew of the TV program “Visti” of one of the regional Kharkiv TV channels.

42. On February 19, in Kharkiv Masha Malevska, the STB journalist, who was working as a team with the operator Oleksander Brynza, was injured. Berkut fighters were hitting her with truncheons on the neck, legs and arms. This happened during the hired thugs’ crackdown on rally participants that were blocking the transport coming to the territory of the Academy of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

43. On February 19, in Odesa hired thugs beat the journalist of the local TV channel «Reporter» Leonid Sobolev. They were punching him in the kidneys and liver, when he was taken prisoner by Antimaidan fighters, who started a brawl near the building of the oblast state administration.

44. On February 20, in Cherkasy when Berkut fighters tried to take over the protesters’ roadblock on the dam, they threatened the journalist of Cherkasy Oblast State TV and Radio Company with weapons.

45. On February 20, in Cherkasy when Berkut fighters tried to take over the protesters’ roadblock on the dam, they beat the head of the photographer of the newspaper ‘Vechirni Cherkasy’ Igor Yefimov in.

46. On February 19, in Odesa hired thugs attacked the peaceful protesters, and an unidentified man hit the news photographer of the "Ukrinform" Agency Andriy Novak on the back with a bat.

47. On February 19, in Odesa hired thugs attacked the peaceful protesters and one of those injured by them was the news photographer of the newspaper "Komsomolska Pravda" Maksym Voitenko. The hired thugs tried to take away his camera and then hit on the leg with a bat.

48. On February 19, in Odesa hired thugs attacked the peaceful protesters and one of those injured by them was the operator of the TV channel ‘Nova Odesa’ Eduard Shenderovych. They bashed his head in; he had to be taken to hospital.

49. On February 19, in Odesa hired thugs attacked the peaceful protesters and one of those injured by them was the correspondent of Ukrinform in Odeska oblast Bogdan Dymovksy. They hit him in the stomach with a bat.

50. On February 20, in Poltava one of Maidan protesters attacked the journalist of the online media outlet Vpoltave.info Anatoliy Melezhyk and damaged his photo camera.

51. On February 20, in Kyiv Berkut fighters took away all equipment from the Hromadske.TV streamer Anton Yemelianov. He was using it for streaming live from the crossing of Instytutska and Bankova Streets.

52. On February 20, in Kyiv Berkut fighters were aiming from machine guns at the ‘Tyzhden.ua’ editor-in-chief Dmytro Krapyvenko along with other journalists. The journalist was able to avoid injury.

53. On February 20, in Kyiv Berkut fighters were aiming from machine guns at the journalist of the TV channel UBR Khrystyna Stets along with other journalists. The journalist was able to avoid injury.

54. On February 20, in Kyiv Berkut fighters were aiming from machine guns at the operator of the TV channel UBR Volodymyr Hulevets along with other journalists. He was able to avoid injury.

55. On February 20, in Poltava a rally participant damaged the camera of the journalist of the online media outlet Vpoltave.info Anatoly Melezhyk.

56. On February 21, in Simferopol hired thugs beat the operator of the ATR TV channel Asan Eminov, who at the Semashko republican hospital was filming arrival for treatment of participants of Antimaidan, which was organized in Mariyinsky Park of Kyiv. Hired thugs were punching Eminov in the face, threw him to the ground and kicked. They also damaged his camera.
