18.09.2017, 21:40
Ukrainian journalists consider the visit of SBU to the editorial office of “Ukrainska pravda” as an attempt to silence mass media and journalist that cover topics that the authorities are not happy about. This was the statement released by the journalists related to the actions of SBU towards “Ukrainska pravda”, that were published in the blog of the chief editor of the media outlet Sevgil Musayeva. Specifically, they were requesting the media outlet to remove their article that was published in winter. The article was about failure to implement the reform of military industry, and SBU claims that it might constitute a state secret. In their statement, the journalists complain that in 26 years “very few things changed in the relations of authorities and mass media”. Currently, the statement is signed by 34 people. Among them, there are journalists of “Ukrainska pravda”, Hromadske TV, “Novoye Vremia”, Hromadske radio, Slidstvo.info, RBK-Ukraina, TV channels ZIK and ATR, project “Skhemy”, Glavkom, “Dzerkalo Tyzhdnia”, and others.
