Court in Crimea arrested journalist Memedeminov

On March 23, Kyivskyi district court of Simferopol arrested Crimean Tatar civil journalist Narmin Memedeminov until May 16. This was reported by attorney Emil Kurbedinov, Krym.Realii informs. “Narmin Memedeminov, based on request of FSB, was arrested until May 16, 2018”, the attorney reported. As a reminder, on March 22 Russian officers detained civil journalist Narmin Memedeminov and placed him to temporary detention facility in Simferopol. Before the detention, armed officers got into his house in the village Kholmovka of Bakhchysarai rayon, and searched his residence, taking computers and cell phones of the journalist and his wife. The detained journalist is accused of part 2, article 205 of the Criminal Code of RF (public appeals to terrorist activities using the Internet network). Several advocacy NGOs, and Ukrainian journalists demand Russia and the occupation authority of Crimea to release Narmin Memedeminov forthwith.
