On May 15, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with his decree put in force the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine “On Imposition of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions).” The list of those under the sanctions included several journalists from Russia, Bulgaria, Poland, Moldova, and Germany, “Detector Media” reports.
This means refusal to grant visa and visa cancellation, as well as application of other kinds of ban on entering the territory of Ukraine for the period of one year.
The list included five foreign journalists: Bulgarian journalist Magdalena Tasheva; blogger of “Novorossia News Agency”, “Adnovum” (Poland) David Berezicky; correspondent of the TV company NTV (Germany) Maksim Beriozin; journalist and blogger of the information agency “Novorossia News Agency” (Poland) David Khudzhets; blogger and leader of the United Informational and Analytical Center “Eurasia Inform” (Moldova) Vladimir Bukarskiy.
The sanctions list also includes seven Russian representatives of mass media: journalist of the information agency Ruptly Danila Anisimov; director-general of the international network “Pervyi Kanal” Aleksei Yefimov, president of the media holding “Krasnaia Zvezda” Aleksei Pimanov; editor of the newspaper “Izvestia” Aleksandr Potapov; journalist and editor-in-chief of the magazine “Expert” Valeriy Fadeyev; editor-in-chief of the edition “Rossiyskaia Gazeta” Vladislav Fronin; editor-in-chief of the edition Vzgliad.RU Aleskei Sharavskiy.
The list includes as well the citizen of Ukraine Olena Berezovska, who lives in Moscow and runs the online media outlet Ukraina.Ru, which was created by the information agency “Russia Today” in the Russian Federation. Besides refusal to grant visa and visa cancellation and ban on entering the territory of Ukraine, the document provides for blocking of Berezovska’ assets (temporary limitation of the person’s right to manage the property they own) for the period of three years.
