Ukraine will block access to the Russian social networks “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki,” as well as the services “Yandex” and Mail.ru. This was the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) as of April 28, 2017, “On Imposition of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”, which was made effective by the decree as of May 15 by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
The list of the companies under sanctions included: LLC “Mail.Ru GROUP”, LLC “VKontakte,” LLC “Yandex,” and LLC “Yandex.Ukraine”.
According to the decision of NSDC, internet providers are prohibited from providing services of access to the above-mentioned services and social networks.
The blocking of access was listed as a restrictive measure for Russian legal entities under the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions.”
The blocking is set for three years.
